Background

SES were engaged to perform detailed structural examination, leveraging our extensive experience to survey the set of arches which form part of structure Folkestone Gardens Viaduct in Deptford, South London.

Implementation

Accessing tenanted arched structures presents numerous obstacles, including cladding, debris, internal buildings, and equipment left by tenants. During our detailed examination, SES engineers encountered difficulties in removing sections of cladding, resulting in a partial assessment. This limitation posed a risk as it prevented our examiners from assessing the condition of the hidden brickwork and identifying potential defects that may have developed over time.
